In an effort to encourage my kids to eat their veggies, I decided to make a cheese sauce to go over them – after all cheese makes everything taste better right?    Until I came across this recipe for cheese sauce, I was always a little scared of making it.  As hard as I tried, my sauce would inevitably end up lumpy and never tasted quite right.  That has all changed once I started using this recipe, which is hands down the best cheese sauce recipe out there.

This sauce is the perfect accompaniment to vegetables, silverside and you can even use next time you are making lasagna or a pasta bake.  It is hands down the easiest and best cheese sauce recipe I have ever come across, and you are guaranteed to end up with perfect sauce every time.

To make this best Cheese Sauce recipe, you will need:

2 tablespoons of butter

2 tablespoons of plain flour

1 cup of full cream milk

1 cup of grated tasty cheese

1/4 cup finely grated parmesan cheese

Salt and pepper – use white pepper to avoid black pepper flakes in your sauce.

1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg.

Let’s put it together!

1. Place a small saucepan on your bench top and put all of your ingredients into it.

2. Turn your stove onto a medium high heat and place the saucepan on it.

3. Use a small whisk to stir the ingredients together and continue to whisk until the mixture is about to reach boiling point and the mixture has thickened. This should only take a few minutes.

4. Remove saucepan from stove top and transfer to a small container or pour over your meal immediately.  If you are not using your cheese sauce immediately, carefully place a piece of cling wrap over the surface of the sauce to prevent a skin from forming.
