M&M Christmas Cookies

Christmas is all about creating happy memories with your family, and baking is a great way to do this. These M&M Christmas Cookies are a great recipe for the kids to get involved and help with. The recipe is based on one of my favourite Chocolate Chip Cookie recipes, and all you need to do to add some Christmas fun is simply substitute the chocolate chips for M&M’s. By using red and green M&M’s you turn these cookies into a cute (and not to mention delicious!) treat which you can enjoy in the lead up to Christmas.

This recipe is so easy to put together and the kids can get involved with jobs like sifting, stirring and shaping the cookies.

These cookies are also a great gift for Family, Friends and Teachers. Simply place a few cookies in a Christmas tin or box and you’ve got a delicious gift everyone will enjoy.

To make these M& M Christmas Cookies, you will need:

  • 125 of butter – softened
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups of plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 cup of desiccated coconut
  • 100g of red and green M&Ms

Let’s put it together!

  1. Preheat your oven to 190 degrees and line two trays with baking paper.
  2. Place the butter, sugar and vanilla in the bowl of an electric mixer and beat until pale and creamy.
  3. Beat through the eggs one at a time, making sure you combine well between each addition.
  4. Remove the bowl from the stand and carefully stir through the flour, baking powder, coconut and M&Ms.
  5. Roll tablespoons of mixtures into balls, place on the baking trays making sure you leave enough space in between each cookie as they will spread.
  6. Flatten the top of the cookie slightly and continue to create cookies until all the mixture has been used.
  7. Place baking trays in the oven and bake for 10 – 12 minute or until the cookies begin to brown on top.
  8. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking trays for 5 minutes before carefully transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
