Australia Day Beef Burgers

Are you planning an Australia Day BBQ? Well you can’t get much more Australian than these Classic Aussie Beef Burgers. Made with a beef patty, sliced tomato, cheese, sliced beetroot and lettuce (with a little squirt of tomato sauce), you can practically hear the burger yelling ‘Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi, Oi, Oi!’. Well maybe not, but hey, it tastes amazing and that’s all that matters!

The best thing about these burgers is that apart from making the beef patties and cooking them on the BBQ, there’s really nothing to them. I like to pop all of the burger fillings onto a big platter and let everyone make their own. That way everyone can make their burger exactly how they like it (I personally like heaps of sliced tomato!).

If you want to take your burgers to the next level, you could always add in a fried egg, bacon, onion or grilled pineapple slices. But to be honest, the plain and simple Classic Aussie Burger really is Australia Day barbecuing perfection at it’s best!

A great idea is to prepare the beef patties ahead of time and pop them on a plate covered with plastic wrap in the fridge until you’re ready to pop them on the BBQ. You can also prepare all the salad ingredients earlier in the day too (just don’t go putting the beetroot out until the last minute or that pesky beetroot juice will go everywhere!!).
